New Method for Studying Rock-Breaking Mechanism by Disc Cutters

摘要 Gainingathoroughunderstandingofthetheoreticalprinciplesofrockbreakingwithadisccutterisacriticalissueintunnelboringmachine(TBM)technology.Tofullyconsiderthecomplexityandimportanceofthebasicprinciplesofrockbreakingduringtunnelexcavation,inthispaperweuseanewmethod,thesmoothparticlehydrodynamics(SPH),tostudytherock-breakingmechanismandverifyitsaccuracyandfeasibility.UsingtheSPHmethod,weinducetherockfragmentationprocesswithtwocuttersinsynchronousandsequentialorders.Theresultsshowthatwhenthecuttersactonrocksequentially,thesecondindentationinfluencesthecrackevolutionofthefirstindentation.Withincreasedcutterspacing,thesecondcrackgraduallybecomesindependentofthefirstcrack.Undersynchronousactionofthetwocutters,abursiformnucleusisgeneratedbeneaththecuttersandtheareaofthenucleusincreaseswithincreasedcutterspacing.Whetherthecuttersactontherocksequentiallyorsynchronously,wefoundtheoptimumcutterspacingofourchosenrocktypetobe60mm.Ouranalysesresultsshowthattheefficiencyofsequentialrockcuttingissuperiortosynchronouscutting,bothwithrespecttocrackevolutionandcutterforce.
