摘要
Atrialfibrillation(AF)isthecommonestcardiacarrhythmia,withsignificantmorbidityandmortality.MorethanhalfofpatientswithAFarestillsymptomaticdespiteadequateanticoagulationandratecontrol.Ifantiarrhythmicdrugsareineffectiveorpoorlytolerated,AFpatientsarethentypicallytreatedwithcatheterablationtorestoresinusrhythm.Inthepast20years,AFablationhasdevelopedfromaspecialized,experimentalprocedureintoacommontreatmentinthecardiovascularfield.Variousablationtechniquesandmappingtechnologieshavebeendescribedandarecontinuingtoevolveforincreasedsafetyandefficacy.Anincompletelistofsuchtechniquesandtechnologieswouldincludefocalandsegmental,circumferentialandlinear,complexfractionatedatrialelectrogram,ganglionatedplexus,focalimpulseandrotormodulation,bodysurfacepotentialmapping–guided,real-timeMRI–guided,cryoballoon,visuallyguidedlaserballoon,radiofrequencyhotballoon,contactforcesensingcatheter,multielectrodecatheter,andhybridablations.ThisreviewexaminesthehistoryofinvasiveAFtreatmentanditsevolutionintocatheterablationbutmainlyfocusesonthediscussionofvariousablationtechniquesandtechnologiesleadingtoourcurrentunderstandingoftheablationtherapyofthismostcommonarrhythmia.
