Proteomics Reveals that Proteins Expressed During the Early Stage of Bacillus anthracis Infection Are Potential Targets for the Development of Vaccines and Drugs

摘要 Inthisreview,weadvanceanewconceptindevelopingvaccinesand/ordrugstotargetspecificproteinsexpressedduringtheearlystageofBacillusanthracis(anthrax)infectionandaddressexistingchallengestothisconcept.Threeproteins(immuneinhibitorA,GPR-likesporeprotease,andalanineracemase)initiallyidentifiedbyproteomicsinourlaboratorywerefoundtohavedifferentialexpressionsduringanthraxsporegerminationandearlyoutgrowth.Otherstudiesofdifferentbacillusstrainsindicatethatthesethreeproteinsareinvolvedineithergerminationorcytotoxicityofspores,suggestingthattheymayserveaspotentialtargetsforthedesignofanti-anthraxvaccinesanddrugs.
