Anapproachforgeneratinginteractive3Dgraphicalvisualizationofthegeneticarchitecturesofcomplextraitsinmultipleenvironmentsisdescribed.3Dgraphicalvisualizationisutilizedformakingimprovementsontraditionalplotsinquan-titativetraitlocus(QTL)mappinganalysis.Interactive3DgraphicalvisualizationforabstractexpressionofQTL,epistasisandtheirenvironmentalinteractionsforexperimentalpopulationswasdevelopedinframeworkofuser-friendlysoftwareQTLNetwork(http://ibi.zju.edu.cn/software/qtlnetwork).Noveldefinitionofgraphicalmetasystemandcomputationofvirtualcoordinatesareusedtoachieveexplicitbutmeaningfulvisualization.Interactive3DgraphicalvisualizationforQTLanalysisprovidesgeneticistsandbreedersapowerfulandeasy-to-usetooltoanalyzeandpublishtheirresearchresults.
