Magnetic Characterization of Amphibolites from the Fomopea Pluton (West Cameroon): Their Implication in the Pan-African Deformation of the Central African Fold Belt

摘要 TheFomopeagraniticplutonisemplacedingnessicandamphiboliticbasement.Thesegneissicandamphiboliticbasementrocksarerepresentedinthepluton'sbodyassub-rounded,elongatedorstretchedxenoliths.Amphiboliticxenolithsdisplaytestimoniesoftwomaintectoniceventsnamely:(i)E1flatteningdeformationeventcharacterizedbyaNW-SEtoE-Wfoliationwithabestpoleat246/57andamineralstretchedlineationwithabestlineat293/47;and(ii)E2compressiveeventtypifiedby(1)N-StoNNE-SSWsteeplydippingfoliation;(2)S-typeflexion-foldindicatingasinistralshearmovement.Theseamphiboliterocksindicateamagneticsusceptibilitymagnitude(Km)rangefrom418μSIto90092μSIfor87%ofthestationsshowingaferromagneticbehavior.K-TcurvesrevealthepresenceofTi-poormagnetiteassusceptibilitymineralcarrier.MagneticfoliationandlineationsuggestthattheN-SstrikedirectionobservedintheBamendouamphiboliteis,aspointedoutelsewhereintheCentralAfricanFoldBelt,ofparamountimportanceinthetectonicevaluationoftheFomopeaarea,sinceithasmostlikelyactedasmajordeformationphaseinthesecondtectoniceventinthebelt.
