摘要
OnJune22,1518,alargeearthquake,measuringM71/2,occurredoffshorewestofSeoul,KoreainthesouthernYellowSea.ThisearthquakeaffectedthewholeKoreanPeninsula,andcauseddamagetothecoastalareassuchasSeoul,wheretheseismicintensitywasdegreeⅧ.Aftershockactivitylastedformorethanonemonth.TheearthquakealsoaffectedtheEasternChinaregion.ThisearthquakewaspossiblyrelatedtotheactivityofthewesternmarginfaultzoneoftheKoreanPeninsula(theeasternmarginfaultzoneofthesouthernYellowSea).Theepicenteroftheearthquakewaslocated36.5°Nand125.2°E.
