摘要
EthicsinChinesesexuallytransmittedinfectionresearcharefundamental.SomerecentHarvardgeneticsresearchinAnhuiProvinceshowshowextremelywealthyandpowerfulresearcherscanexploitpoorruralfarmersinChina.AfterseveralyearsofcontroversyandastatementfromtheHarvardpresidentsayingthatthegeneticsexperimentswere"badlywrong",therearestillquestionsaboutforgedinformedconsent(ChinaDaily2003,AHSRP2004).Sincethesegeneticsprojectswereinitiallydiscovered,theUSgovernmentestablishedanewofficetomonitorforeignresearch(Nelson2001).TheobviouslyflawedinternationalresearchcollaborationallowsagoodopportunitytoconsiderthecurrentstateofethicsandrightsinChineseSTIresearch,andestablishastandardforevaluationofresearchatCJSTI.ThisarticlewillexplainseveralcurrentpracticesinChineseSTIresearch,andthenintroduceseveralinternationallyrecognizedstandardsforthinkingaboutpatient'srightsindevelopingcountries.
