摘要
Technologicaladvancementsarecontinuouslychangingtheparadigmofhumanexistence.Humanbeingsareconstantlyengaginginvariousmeasurestoreducetheextentofsensoryandmotorimpairment.Thishasbeenintheformofvariousdevices,e.g.orthopedicprosthesis,visualaids(spectacles)andhearingaids.Countlessattemptsthroughoutthecenturieshavebeenmadeinanefforttoimprovesoundamplificationinpatients.Thisarticleseekstohighlightsthetechnologicaljourneyofonesuchimplant,themiddleearimplant,fromitsinceptiontothemoretechnologicaladvancedfuturisticproposals.Whiletherearemanyamplificationdevicesavailablepresently,therestillremainsagroupofpatientswhohavenotexperiencedadequateamplificationfortheirhearinglossandthissubsetmaygainthegreatestbenefitfrommiddleearimplants.
