Theabinitiomolecularorbitalmethodisemployedtostudytheenantioselectivereductionofacetophenonewithboranecatalyzedbythiszolidino[3,4-c]oxazaborolidine.Computationresultshowsthatthecontrollingstepforthereductionisthedecompositionofthecatalyst-alkoxyboraneadductandthereductionleadstoS-alcohols.ThetransitionatateofthehydridetransferfromtheboranemoietytothecarbonylcarbonofacetophenoneisatwistedchairstructurewithaB(2)-N(3)-BBH3-HBH3-CCo-OCO6-memberedring.
