简介：Theaimofthisexperimentalstudyistoinvestigatetheeffectsofhydraulicparametersontheformationofair-entrainingvorticesathorizontalintakestructureswithoutapproachflowinducedcirculation.Sixintakepipesofdifferentdiametersweretestedinthestudy.Theintakepipetobetestedwashorizontallymountedtothefrontsideofalargereservoirandthenforawiderangeofdischargesexperimentswereconductedandcriticalsubmergencesweredetectedwithadjustableapproachchannelsidewalls.Empiricalequationswerederivedforthedimensionlesscriticalsubmergenceasafunctionoftherelevantdimensionlessparameters.Availabledataisalsocheckedforthepossiblescaleeffect.Then,theseobtainedequationswerecomparedwiththesimilaronesintheliteraturewhichshowedaquitegoodagreement.
