  • 简介:Westudytarget-searchingprocessesonapercolation,onwhichahuntertracksatargetbysmellingodorsitemits.Theodorintensityissupposedtobeinverselyproportionaltothedistanceitpropagates.TheMonteCarlosimulationisperformedona2-dimensionalbond-percolationabovethethreshold.Havingnoideaofthelocationofthetarget,thehunterdeterminesitsmovesonlybyrandomattemptsineachdirection.Forlagerpercolationconnectivityp(>~)0.90,itrevealsascalinglawforthesearchingtimeversusthedistancetothepositionofthetarget.Thescalingexponentisdependentonthesensitivityofthehunter.Forsmallerp,thescalinglawisbrokenandtheprobabilityoffindingoutthetargetsignificantlyreduces.Thehunterseemstrappedintheclusterofthepercolationandcanhardlyreachthegoal.

  • 简介:ThisarticledescribesthefabricationofasuiteoflasertargetsbytheTargetFabricationgroupintheCentralLaserFacility(CLF),STFCRutherfordAppletonLaboratoryforthefirstacademic-accessexperimentontheOrionlaserfacility(Hoppsetal.,Appl.Opt.52,3597–3601(2013))atAtomicWeaponsEstablishment(AWE).Thisexperiment,partofthePOLARproject(Falizeetal.,Astrophys.SpaceSci.336,81–85(2011);Busschaertetal.,NewJ.Phys.15,035020(2013)),studiedconditionsrelevanttotheradiation-hydrodynamicprocessesoccurringinaremarkableclassofastrophysicalstarsystemsknownasmagneticcataclysmicvariables.Alargenumberofcomplexfabricationtechnologiesandresearchanddevelopmentactivitieswererequiredtofieldatotalof80high-specificationtargets.Targetdesignandfabricationproceduresaredescribedandinitialalignmentandcharacterizationdataarediscussed.

  • 简介:Thedesignsofinertialconfinementfusion(ICF)targets,whichfieldonShenGuangIII,arebecomingmorecomplexandmorestringentintermsofassemblyprecision.Akeyspecificationofthesetargetsisthespatialanglealignmentaccuracy.Tomeettheseneeds,wepresentanewspatialangleassemblymethod,usingtargetpart's3Dmodel-baseddualorthogonalcameravision,whichisbettersuitedfortheflexibleautomationoftargetassemblyprocesses.Thetwo-handsstructuremicromanipulatesystemanddualorthogonalstructurevisualfeedbacksystemwereinvestigatedbyconsideringthekinematics,spatialanglemeasuring,andmotioncontrolinanintegratedway.Inthispaper,wediscussthemeasurementaccuracyofspatialangleassemblymethod,whichcomparedthereal-timeimageacquisitionwiththeredrawing2Dprojection.Theresultshowsthattheassemblymethodproposedisveryeffectiveandmeetstherequirementsofangleassemblyaccuracy,whichislessthan1°.Also,thisworkisexpectedtocontributegreatlytotheadvancementofothertargetmicroassemblyequipments.

  • 简介:Theinfluenceoftheaxialrelativemotionbetweenthetargetandthesourceonghostimaging(GI)isinvestigated.BoththeanalyticalandexperimentalresultsshowthatthetransverseresolutionofGIisreducedasthedeviationofthetarget’scenterpositionfromtheopticalaxisortheaxialmotionrangeincreases.Toovercomethemotionblur,weproposeadeblurringmethodbasedonspeckle-resizingandspeedretrieval,andweexperimentallyvalidateitseffectivenessforanaxiallymovingtargetwithanunknownconstantspeed.Theresultsdemonstratedherewillbeveryusefultoforward-lookingGIremotesensing.

  • 简介:Taylorimpactisawidelyusedstrategyinwhichaflat-nosedprojectileisfiredontoarigidanvildirectlytodeterminethedynamicstrengthofrodspecimens.Nowadays,therigidanvilisoftenreplacedbyanoutputtargetbartoensuretheaccuracyofmeasurementviarecordingstrainsignalsintheoutputbar.Fortestingthedynamicstrengthoflow-densitymaterials,alow-impedancetargetbar,whichexhibitsviscoelasticcharacteristicsisoftenemployed.Inthispaper,anextendedTaylormodelisproposedtoimprovetheidealizationoftreatingthetargetbarasperfectlyrigidmaterialintheclassicTaylormodel,andtheviscoelasticeffectofthetargetbarisincorporated.Theviscoelastictargetbarisdepictedbytwoelasticspringsandonedashpot.Basedontheplasticshockwavetheoryintheflat-nosedprojectileassociatedwiththeviscoelasticwaveanalysisinthetargetbar,theviscoelasticeffectofthetargetbarontheimpactresponseoftheflat-nosedprojectileisinvestigated.Thefiniteelementsimulationisalsocarriedouttoverifythetheoreticalmodel,andgoodagreementisfound.ThepresenttheoreticalmodelisalsocalledtheTaylor-cylinderHopkinsonimpact,whichprovidesamoreaccuratewaytoidentifythedynamicmaterialparameters.Thedynamicresponsesofthepresentmodelarefurthercomparedwithpreviouselasticandrigidtargetbarmodels.ItisfoundthattheviscoelasticeffectofthetargetbarshouldbetakenintoconsiderationintheTaylor-cylinderHopkinsonimpacttestforlow-impedancematerials.

  • 简介:Auniqueapproachforpermeationfillingofnonpermeableinertialconfinementfusiontargetcapsuleswithdeuterium-tritium(DT)ispresented.Thisprocessusesapermeablecapsulecoupledintothefinaltargetcapsulewitha0.03-mm-diameterfilltube.Leakfreepermeationfillingofglow-dischargepolymerization(GDP)targetsusingthismethodhavebeensuccessfullydemonstrated,aswellasicelayeringofthetarget,yieldinganinnericesurfaceroughnessof1-μmrms(rootmeansquare).Finally,themeasuredDTice-thicknessprofileforthisexperimentwasusedtovalidateathermalmodel'spredictionofthesamethicknessprofile.

  • 简介:Spallationtargetrepresentsoneofthemostchallengingcomponentsinacceleratordrivensystems(ADS)sinceitisthecomponentcouplingtheacceleratorandthesub-criticalcore.Itissubjectedtobombardmentofintenseprotonbeamandveryhighthermalloadinastrongradiationfield.TheirradiatedLBEtargetposesseverehandlingproblemsforthemaintenancestaffandotherscientistsduetoitsresidualactivity[1].ToassistthedesignofADS,thegeneralradiologicalsafetyaspectsoflead,lead-bismutheutectic(LBE)andtungstenspallationtargetwerestudiedwithMCNPX2.7code[2].Thespallationtargetwasirradiatedbya250MeV,10mAprotonbeamproducedbyalinearprotonaccelerator.Theneutronyield,neutronspectrum,residualproductionandtimeevolutionfortheirradiatedtargetwereanalyzed.
