  • 简介:WeusedagoalprogrammingtechniquetodeterminetheoptimalharvestvolumefortheIranianCaspianforest.Wecollecteddataincludingvolume,growth,woodpriceatforestroadside,andvariableharvestingcosts.Theallometricmethodwasusedtoquantifysequestratedcarbon.Regressionanalysiswasusedtoderivegrowthmodels.Expectedmeanpricewasestimatedusingwoodpriceandvariableharvestingcosts.Questionnairewasusedtodeterminetheconstraintsandtheequationcoefficientsofthegoalprogrammingmodel.Theoptimalvolumewasdeterminedusingthegoalprogrammingmethodaccordingtomultipurposeforestmanagement.LINGOsoftwarewasusedforanalysis.Resultsindicatedthattheoptimumvolumesofspecieswere250.25m3?ha-1forbeech,59m3?ha-1forhornbeam,73m3?ha-1foroak,41m3?ha-1foralder,and32m3?ha-1forotherspecies.Thetotaloptimumvolumeis455.25m3?ha-1.

  • 简介:TheplantationoccupiesgreatproportioninurbanforestinmanycitiesinChina.Thedesignandmanagementforurbanforestsupplementseachother.Thedesigndecidestheorientationofmanagement,whilethemanagementalsoaffectsthelandscapeeffectsandecologicalbenefitsofthedesigninreverse.Therearemanyissuesondesignandmanagementofurbanforest.Forexample,somedesignsonlyemphasizethevisualimpressionwhileignoringtheecologicalbenefits,theproblemsofsimplifyingtheforestlayerstructureandpurifyingitsspeciescompositionareubiquitous,Itisshortofcomprehensiveanalysisoflocalenvironmentconditions,thephenomenaareveryoutstandinginlearningforeignorothercity'smodelbycopyingmechanically.Themanagementmodelisnotonlymonotonous,butalsobehindthestepofurbandevelopmentandthehumandemandforreturningtonature.Theseunreasonabledesignsandmanagementsareoneofthemainreasonsforlowerecologicalbenefits,andalsocausedsomeotherbadaftereffects,suchaslowerbiodiversityandhighcostofmanagement,etc.Sothethoughtofclose-to-naturedesignandmanagementinurbanforestisproposedanditsfeasibilityandmethodsarediscussedinthepaper.

  • 简介:Background:Cumulativeimpactsofwildfiresandforestharvestingcancauseshiftsfromclosed-crownforesttoopenwoodlandinborealecosystems.Tolowertheprobabilityofoccurrenceofsuchcatastrophicregimeshifts,forestloggingmustdecreasewhenfirefrequencyincreases,sothatthecombineddisturbanceratedoesnotexceedtheHolocenemaximum.Knowinghowclimatewarmingwillaffectfireregimesisthuscrucialtosustainablymanagetheforest.Thisstudyaimedtoprovideaguidetodeterminesustainableforestharvestinglevels,byreconstructingtheHolocenefirehistoryatthenorthernlimitofcommercialforestryinQuebecusingcharcoalparticlespreservedinlakesediments.Methods:SedimentcoresweresampledfromfourlakeslocatedclosetothenorthernlimitofcommercialforestryinQuebec.Thecoreswereslicedintoconsecutive0.5cmthicksubsamplesfromwhich1cm3wasextractedtocountandmeasurecharcoalparticleslargerthan150microns.Age-depthmodelswereobtainedforeachcorebasedonacceleratormassspectroscopy(AMS)radiocarbondates.Holocenefirehistorieswerereconstructedbycombiningcharcoalcountsandage-depthmodelstoobtaincharcoalaccumulationratesand,afterstatisticaltreatment,long-termtrendsinfireoccurrence(expressedasnumberoffiresper1000years).Results:Fireoccurrencevariedbetweenthefourstudiedsites,butfiresgenerallyoccurredmoreoftenduringwarmanddryperiodsoftheHolocene,especiallyduringtheHoloceneThermalMaximum(7000–3500cal.BP),whenfireoccurrencewastwiceashighasatpresent.Conclusions:ThecurrentfireregimeinthestudyareaisstillwithinthenaturalrangeofvariabilityobservedovertheHolocene.However,climaticconditionscomparabletotheHoloceneThermalMaximumcouldbereachedwithinthenextfewdecades,thussubstantiallyreducingtheamountofwoodavailabletotheforestindustry.

  • 简介:AccordingtotheunificationprincipleofsystemstructureandsystemfunctionoftheWaterResourceConservationForests,sevenfactorswereselectedfromstandspatialstructure,treesstructureandhealthyofwoods,themultifunctionmanagementoptimizationmodeltargetwasconfirmedbyusingnonlinearitymulti-objectiveprogrammingapproach,andthetargetfunction-standspatialstructurehomogeneityindexwasdefinedtoestablishspatialoptimizationmodelswithrestrainingconditionssetupindiversityofstandstructureandspatialstructure.ThespatialstructureofavailabletypicalstandinthewetlandareainsouthernDontingLakewasoptimizedbymeansofselectivecuttingandreinforcementplanting.Theresultsshowedthatthespatialstructurewasimprovedobviouslyandtreesdiversityandstandhealthwerenotweakened.It’ssuggestedthattheestablishedoptimizationmodelcaneffectivelyguidemultifunctionmanagement,standstructureoptimizationandthesteadinessofecologicalecosystemanditisconvenientandoperableinpractice,andit’sveryimportanttoprotectandrecoverecosystemofWaterResourceConservationForests.

  • 简介:Naturalspruce-firmixedstandisoneofthemainforesttypesintheworld,andalsohashugeecological,economicandsocialbenefits.Accordingtothestructuralcharacteristicsandsuccessionlawsofnaturalspruce-firforest,itisurgentandsignificanttodevelopscientificmanagementmeasuresfornaturalspruce-firmixedstandinlinewithlocalconditions.Thearticleoutlinedthecharacteristicsofthedistributionandstructure,regenerationandsuccessionlawsofnaturalspruce-firforest,andanalyzedthecurrentsituationandexistingproblemsofnaturalspruce-firforestmanagement.Thefollowingrecommendationswereeventuallymade:1)Innocuttingarea,allloggingactivitiesshouldbebanned.Inarestrictedcuttingarea,thecuttingintensityshouldbegenerallycontrolledwithin15%ofthestockvolumebeforecutting.Onthecommodityforestmanagementarea,theappropriatecuttingintensityshouldbedeterminedaccordingtothevolumeperhectare,determineandclassificationmanagementshouldbeimplementedinaccordancewiththecharacteristicsofforest,toensurethescientificselectivecutting.2)Closureforafforestation,plantingandrepairplantingshouldbeadoptedonvegetation-intensiveland,sparseshrubscoveredlandandharvestingslash,inordertoacceleratenaturalregeneration.3)Theinsituconservationshouldbeconductedinnaturereservesandscientificexperimentstationsofrareandendangeredspecies,suchasAbieschensiensis,Piceaneoveitchii,Abiesvuanbaoshanensis,toreducehumandestruction.4)Itissupposedtocollectseedsintime,establishnursery,activelyestablishforest,expandartificialpopulationandpromotenaturalregeneration.

  • 简介:Background:Prosopisspecieshavebeenintroducedtomanyareasoutsidetheirnativerangetoprovidebenefitstolocalcommunities.SeveralProsopisspeciesandtheirhybrids(hereafter"mesquite")have,however,becomenaturalisedandinvasiveandnowgeneratesubstantialcosts.Managementoptionsarelimitedbecauseofthecomplexconflictsofinterestregardingbenefitsandcosts.Managementpoliciesandstrategiesmusttakeaccountofsuchconflicts,butfurtherinsightsareneededonthedimensionsofusesandimpactsbeforesuchinformationcanbeusefullyapplied.CurrentpolicyinSouthAfricaallowsforthegrowthanduseofmesquiteinoneprovince,butnotinotherswhereitscontrolismandatory.Wereportonastudytoquantifythedirectuseandperceptionsofnon-timberforestproducts(NTFPs)frommesquiteandnativetreesinSouthAfrica.Methods:Semi-structureshouseholdinterviewswereconductedwithvariousstakeholdergroupstoidentifywhattreeproductsareused,toascertainamountsusedaswellastogaugeperceptionsofnaturalresourceusebetweendifferenttreespeciesanduseovertime.Results:Thedirecthouseholdusevalueofnativetreeswashigherthanthatofmesquite,andlocalstakeholdersattachedgreatervaluetoproductsfromnativetreesthanfrommesquite.Therefore,nativetreesareandwillstillbepreferentiallyharvested,andmesquiteisunlikelytoofferprotectiontonativespeciesbyprovidinganalternativesourceofproducts.Mesquitepodsdo,however,providevaluableadditionalresources(fodderandmedicinalproducts).Theuseofbothnativetreesandmesquiteisdecreasingastheincomesofpoorerhouseholdsriseandasalternativeenergysourcesbecomeavailable.Thebenefitsandrelianceonmesquitearenotashighaspreviouslyassumedandtheimpactsfrommesquiteinvasionscreatelargeproblemsforlocalcommunities.Conclusion:Thisstudyprovidesfurtherevidencethattheimpactsofmesquiteexceedthebenefits,lendingsupportforapolicytoreducenegat
