摘要
Fluid-particleinteractionunderpinsimportantbehaviorofgranularmedia.Particle-scalesimulationmayhelptoprovidekeymicroscopicinformationgoverningtheinteractionandofferbetterunderstandingofgranularmediaasawhole.Thispaperpresentsacoupledcomputationalfluiddynamicsanddiscreteelementmethod(CFD-DEM)approachforthispurpose.ThegranularparticlesystemismodeledbyDEM,whilethefluidflowissimulatedbysolvingthelocallyaveragedNavier-StokesequationwithCFD.ThecouplingisconsideredbyexchangingsuchinteractionforcesasdragforceandbuoyancyforcebetweentheDEMandCFD.Theapproachisbenchmarkedbytwoclassicgeomechanicsproblemsforwhichanalyticalsolutionsareavailable,andisfurtherappliedtothepredictionofsandheapformationinwaterthroughhopperflow.Itisdemonstratedthatthekeycharacteristicofgranularmaterialsinteractingwithporewatercanbesuccessfullycapturedbytheproposedmethod.
