摘要 Traditionalmoviesfeaturemenwhoarestrong,powerful,intelligent,resourceful,womenjustbeingpassiverolestofacilitatethecharacterizationofactivemenroles,evenifthemalecharactersarecharacterizedasvillains.Thepurposeofthearrangementoffemalecharactersinmoviesistodrivethenarrativeoftheplot,topositionfemalecharactersastheobjectofgazesoastoprovidesexualpleasureformalespectators.Thistraditionalcharacterizationoffemalesinmoviesistherepresentationoftheorthodoxpatriarchy,intentionallyorunintentionally.Whereas,analyzingfromtheperspectiveofmalegaze,themovie,Taxi,completelyoverturnsandmockstheorthodoxpatriarchy.ThekeycharacterinthemovieisBelle,askillfulfemaletaxidriver,playedbyQueenLatifah.Themalecharacter,AndyWashburn,ischaracterizedasbeingawkward,unmanlyanduncollected,inneedofhelpfromBelle.Thisessayanalyzesthecharacterizationofthekeycharactersinthemovietoillustratehowitoverturnsandmockstheorthodoxpatriarchy.
