Asanewlycurrentadvancedanalysistechnology,thenear-infrared(NIR)spectroscopypossessesadvantagesofeasyoperation,fastandaccuratedetection,lowcostandnon-destructivetest,hasbeenwidelyusedinthefieldsincludingpulpmanufacturingandpaper-making,woodpropertiesestimation,woodprogressing,woodcompositesproducingandwoodprotection.Inpresentwork,basedonintroductionofthebasicprinciplesofNIRanditsmaincharacteristics,anoverviewwasconductedfocusingontheresearchstatusofwoodanatomicalcharacteristics(includingcellulosecrystallinity,microfibrilangleandfibermorphology)estimationbyusingNIRspectroscopy.Moreover,theapplicationtrendswereprospected.
