Inthisstudy,cloudbaseheight(CBH)andcloudtopheight(CTH)observedbytheKa-band(33.44GHz)cloudradarattheBoseongNationalCenterforIntensiveObservationofSevereWeatherduringfall2013(September-November)wereverifiedandcorrected.Forcomparativeverification,CBHandCTHwereobtainedusingaceilometer(CL51)andtheCommunication,OceanandMeteorologicalSatellite(COMS).Duringrainfall,theCBHandCTHobservedbythecloudradarwerelowerthanobservedbytheceilometerandCOMSbecauseofsignalattenuationduetoraindrops,andthisdifferenceincreasedwithrainfallintensity.Duringdryperiods,however,theCBHandCTHobservedbythecloudradar,ceilometer,andCOMSweresimilar.Thinandlow-densitycloudswereobservedmoreeffectivelybythecloudradarcomparedwiththeceilometerandCOMS.Incasesofrainfallormissingcloudradardata,theceilometerandCOMSdatawereproveneffectiveincorrectingorcompensatingthecloudradardata.Thesecorrectedclouddatawereusedtoclassifycloudtypes,whichrevealedthatlowcloudsoccurredmostfrequently.
