Themechanismofcarriertransportinorganiclight-emittingdevicesisnumericallystudied,onthebasisoftrappedcharge-limitedconductionwithanexponentialtrapdistribution.Thespatialdistributionsoftheelectricalpotential,fieldandcarrierdensityintheorganiclayerarecalculatedandanalysed.Mostcarriersaredistributednearthetwoelectrodes,onlyafewofthemaredistributedovertheremainingpartoftheorgaiclayer,Thecarriersareaccumulatedneartheelectrodes,andtheremainingregionisalmostexhaustedofcarriers.Whenthecharacteristicenergyoftrapdistributionisgreaterthan0.3eV.itleadstoareductionofcurrentdensity.Inordertoimprovethedeviceefficiency,organicmaterialswithminortrapsandlowcharacteristicenergyshouldbechosen.Thediffusioncurrentisthedominantcomponentneartheinjectionelectrode.whereasthedriftcurrentdominatestheremainingregionoftheorganiclayer.
