ConsideringitscentralpositioninEastGondwanareconstructions,theIndiansubcontinentfiguresprominentlyinthestudies,whichwereenvisagedundertherecentlyconceptualizedinternationalproject—""LEGENDS""(LithosphericEvolutionofGondwanaEastfrominterdisciplinaryDeepSurveys),amajorinitiativebyinternationalscientificcommunitytostudycontinentsofthesouthernhemisphere.TheCC-8subcommitteeoftheInternationalLithosphericProgramme(ILP)hasalsoacceptedtheLEGENDSinitiative.
