AIM:Todescribetheresultsof5consecutivecasesofclearlensextractioninangleclosurepatientsforthetreatmentofelevatedintraocularpressure(IOP).·METHODS:Retrospectiveobservationalcaseseries.Allangleclosurepatientswereontwoormoretopicalglaucomamedicationsandhadpriorlaseriridotomy.Eyesunderwentclearlensextractionbyphacoemu-lsificationwithintraocularlensimplantation.·RESULTS:Allfivepatientsinthiscaseseriescarriedthediagnosisofangle-closureglaucomaandhaduncontrolledIOPpriortosurgerydespitetopicalmedications.AfterclearlensextractionthreeofthecaseshadgoodIOPcontrol(IOP<22mmHg)withouttheneedfortopicalmedications.InonecasetheIOPwasbettercontrolledaftersurgery,however,topicalmedicationswererequired.ThedesiredIOPwasnotmetinonecasedespiterestartingmaximumtopicaltherapy.·CONCLUSION:Thiscaseseriessuggeststhattheremaybearolefortherapeuticclearlensextractioninselectcasesofangle-closureglaucoma.
